Remodeling?
WBRE is either remodeling or moving out of its Williamsport bureau. A reader writes in to say the station office across from city hall is now empty. What's going on?
UPDATE: I've been told WBRE is moving the bureau to the former Lycoming Hotel, as their current bureau will be torn down for a theater project. There's more info in the comments to this post.

They have been forced to move out by redevelopment, as that whole block is to become a multi-screen theater. No great loss as the old place had rats that would prevent use of the bathroom, which was in their basement.
It should be mentioned that ch50 cares so much about their bureau employee that they provide a company car for use during the workday, but that vehicle has to remain parked at their bureau office...then if news breaks their "one-man-band" has to go to downtown Williamsport to retrieve the car and the camera...they are not allowed to take it home! Guess management is really concerned about providing great coverage, and helping their staff too. It gets better...the company car gets parked in the ONE space ch50 is alloted at their (old) office, so when you show up for work, you have to PAY to park your own car! Ch50 is SO cheap, it won't pop for a downtown parking pass for the employee's vehicle, they are expected to pay out of their own pocket just for the pleasure of being at work at such a cheap rathouse.
They're reportedly going to set up shop in the Center City building, formerly the Lycoming Hotel and now an "apartment" building full of lots of interesting characters. Good luck. Hope you can at least use your bathroom.
1. Maybe they can't allow the reporter to take the company vehicle home for insurance reasons.
2. Why should the company pay for parking of a personal car? Does every other company pay for parking for every single one of their employees that have to pay to park?
The ones who don't go out of their way to foster hard feelings and a sense of not caring about their employees do. Not too many people at the decision-making level it seems, who realize the truth in the old saw, "penny-wise and pound foolish".
"Why should the company pay for parking of a personal car? Does every other company pay for parking for every single one of their employees that have to pay to park?"
Because they operate a bureau office and don't provide a company vehicle for their employee. That's the definition of a bureau, those employees live in that area, get to know that area, develop contacts in that area and learn what's important to those communities. They are by definition supposed to make that area their LIFE. That's why they're there. Give 'em the car! It can only help them work.
Ch50 is cheap cheap cheap, sorry but the truth hurts. Believe me, I once interviewed for a job there, I left after an hour hoping I would never have to go back to that building, and that was BEFORE the merger.
