First Adams Cable, now Service Electric?
Nexstar Broadcasting is now heading after another local cable company for retransmission fees for WBRE/WYOU. A station insider says Service Electric is now number two on the hit list, joining Adams Cable in the shoving match.
Come 2006, we shall see who wins. It won't be the customers, I'll tell you that.
UPDATE: Both stations have amended their "open letter" to include Service Electric. The company's website has no response yet. See the previous entry on the retransmission fee brouhaha for Adams Cable's response.

Service electric already carries NBC and CBS from Philly. The best thing that could happen is to not have to watch amateur hour of news. If something's going on I watch 16 anyway, but I'd really miss the laughs. Die, nexstar!
Funny this should happen right after Service Electric announces a deal with 16 to run their news 24/7 on channel 90. Service Electric should cut out some channels to help off set the cost of paying 22/28. I for one could do without Fit TV, ESPN Classic, OLN and others. And just how many shopping channels does one need on cable???
As much as I hate to say 16 is smart, but it now has its cable channel on S-E, so 16 can charge more for commercials. That's how it makes its money. Nexstar wants to get cash directly from the cable companies, and its a struggle. You may say bye-bye to 22 and 28 when the ball drops New Year's Eve. As for the home shopping channels, they buy their space or the cable company gets a cut of the sales.
Adams Cable subscriber here...and I won't miss either one. Not a problem. Ask yourself when was the last time you absolutely had to see something on ANY channel? Those stations go away? See ya! Plenty of other stuff to occupy my time, and frankly TV isn't even in the top three.
Story in today's Cit. Voice stating the two sides are talking and WBRE has pulled the crawl they were running....
Is the 16 channel on the air? I keep checking and only see snow...
Is the CV story on their website yet? I haven't seen it.
I don't know if the story on the website, but it is buried in the paper back near the sports.
Service Electric and WNEP's website continue to announce the carriage of newswatch 16 on channel 90, but so far no news....
How dumb can 22 and 28 be...they're already the lowest rated stations and they're cutting off more people...doesn't seem to be very good business
