Bet this gonna cause a lot of head rolling

I get a lot of junk e-mail at work. Most seems to come from Trena Brown, an office administrator in Gov. Ed Rendell's office. Her primary job seems to be to send out as many press releases as humanly possible. Did the governor proclaim today as "Nacho Day?" Bang, here's a press release!

Obviously, anything from Trena Brown goes into my junk folder. But today, she sent a real gem. The press release was about using video phones to allow National Guardsmen to hear and see their families back home. At the top was the following:

bet this gonna cause a lot of break ups. can u imagine the boy caling home and seeing something he don't want to see

Oops! Kate Phillips, Rendell's chief spokeswoman, replied a few minutes later, calling Trena's snafu "an obvious lapse of judgment." Tomorrow, we may see a release stating, "Governor Rendell fires Trena Brown."

Guess I should read those press releases more often! Did any of you get this as well?

At the risk of being sexist, it's not surprising coming from an office that includes Trena, Brandi, Heidi, Lissa and Kristianna. Plum communications jobs are nice places to park the female offspring of the well-connected. See Monica Lewinsky, PR drone at the Pentagon, for details.

It's clear the Trena never worked in a newsroom, where they (hopefully) teach you to never, ever, ever type something into your computer that you would not want on the front page (or on the TelePrompter).

No, didn't see it. But given the fact that I am almost "accidentally" connected to the communication directors in many state government offices, I am not at all surprised. A comm director's job can easily be worth 100K. Even sub-sub-subordinate comm jobs can run around 60K, with full benefits. If you are an elected official, it's totally discretionary, you can pay a staff member 500K, so long as you stay within budget. Many getting these jobs are boobs, total boobs, politically-wired boobs. Hey, nice work, if you can get it.

In general, not knowing the gal, I'd have to say you don't write about things that aren't already in your head...

Ya know, press princesses are not the only ones who make snafus..

In fact, just last night while watching TV at my mother-in-law's house near Honesdale I saw two of the local "news places" make some real snafus!!!

Quick summary: Cops in East Stroudsburg bust up a huge drinking bash near ESU. Lots of underagers arrested, 25+ kegs are taken, a beer trailer and 5-thousand cash. Largest raid ever in 'Burg.

The local TV station, 13, did a good job of covering it. Shots of kegs, trailer, fliers and had interview with party "host".
22/28 sent their guy up a few hours later and tried to do something with the story...but the video was lacking.

BUT THE ABSOLUTE BEST WAS WNEP'S STORY IN EBURG... ABOUT A WOMEN'S ROLLER DERBY TEAM!!! They sent Bianca Barr, "aka Bianca Battle" up to do that story. Completely missed the story about the big bust that night. AND THEY WERE IN THE AREA!!!
See, guys not just PR types make stupid moves.. SO do newsdorks!!!

yet Trena was probably dead-on in her assessment. A little tact would've helped but I can't fault her for thinking/saying that
