Andrews to run for General Assembly

WYOU news director Frank Andrews is running for a house seat in the General Assembly, reports The Times-Tribune. He was mulling the decision recently, and has already enlisted the help of the same consultants who worked on Scranton Mayor Chris Doherty's campaign.

Apparently, Andrews has yet to tell his staff of the decision, says one station insider. When that does happen, it's likely he will resign. Conflict of interest, you know? And that means Nexstar will be hunting for another news director in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton market. Or the company will tell WBRE acting news director Ron Krusulevicz to pull double duty. Ouch.

Prediction: He drops out early. Something about the heat in the kitchen.

i dont think it'll be heat, i think it'll be because of the mud slinging going on when the campaign really gets going. i know janet evans wants to run for the same seat and she fights dirty.

I can't believe a "man" with Frank's issues is running for public office. Those of us who know the real stories will be very active in campaigning against him. It won't be mud slinging. It will be telling the truth. Frank, do everyone a favor and put the nominating petitions in the shredder.

I'm pretty far removed from Ground Zero and even I've heard the stories...the ones from back in the day and the current batch. He's brave or his ego has clouded his judgment.

I'm not saying I support his running for office, but show me one person currently in office that doesn't have some "issues".

His issues are like ducks in a shooting gallery.

Won't he have to use his 'real' last name Shimkus or something like that?

Yes, all candidates have some "issues" but nothing like what Frank is carrying around. I see the newspaper ad for his church has changed. It used to say "Rev. Frank Andrews." It now reads "Red Frank Andrews Shimkus." Nice. Use your church to further your political goals. I'm sure the people at the church are very proud. He has no shame.

What are his motives for running? Running away from something...maybe? Why not stay with what he knows...which, I guess, is local news? Is it odd that a bald-headed, aging talking head is going toward politics all of a sudden? Just ax'in...
