The unique relationship between female reporters and their male photogs has been a "given" for a long, long time. There seems to be some strong attraction that is perhaps due to the time spent together and the situations they face together. In most(not all)cases, photogs are in good shape, fit and trim, and are good listeners. A perfect combination, right? That's being delicate.
To be indelicate, a lot of these male-female working relationships have, are, and probably will continue to be bottom-bangers from time to time. I can think of at least two situations where local photogs were prepared to leave their wives and families for a female reporter. Fortunately, I guess, the reporter wasn't willing to make that move. Morale of the story? Well, my dumbass opinion is this; just because your female reporter seems to be flashing you signals, ignore them, take it all with a huge grain of salt. Once the workday is done, she has someone else. She finds you interesting, but certainly not intellectually and financially attractive. Is this from personal experience? Let me stress, no, it is not. But is from personal observations over decades of being in the biz...
I accidentally hit on Jane Adonizio 22 years ago, when I was a senior in High School.
I was at some sort of event at King's College where there were representatives from every High School in the area. I think I was the only rep from my school. I was hanging out before the event in the student lounge and got into a conversation with a slightly older-looking woman. It was a fairly pleasant conversation, and she asked me a few questions about myself. Eventually I asked her what High School she was from - and she just responded by saying "HAH!", getting up, and walking away, leaving me bewildered. Later I found out who I had been talking to.
Years later in college I wound up rooming with her cousin. He got a good laugh out of this story.
