Where are they now?
Today, we feature former WYOU weather forecaster Scott Hetsko.
Like so many forecasters in this area, Hetsko started his career while he was wrapping up at Penn State. He came to WYOU as its weekend forecaster, and also threw in some reporting as well. Hetsko stuck around after graduation, but other things called, and by December 1999, he bid Wilkes-Barre/Scranton farewell.
Where is he now? Hetsko is now the "chief meteorologist" at WROC in Rochester, New York.

Worked with Scott for several years. Good guy, though I didn't see this particular career path.
What I recall about his days at 22 was how polished he was right from the start. Compare that to some other new weather people, especially that ultra-nervous chick stammering her way thru a forecast on 28 now.
Well, the ultra nervous chick on Channel 28 just graduated from college like 30 minutes ago. What do you expect from a wet-behind-the-ears rookie? Perfection? Scott was one of the rare exceptions to the "nervous rookie" title.
Exactly. Scott didn't have that awkward start-up that so many others do.

Both Scott and his "local personality" brother are good folk. They could really use some decaf 'tho.
Scott spent many years at WICK/WWDL before hitting TV.

I was watching her performance and figured she was brand-new. That's why God invented weekends. Learn the business, get comfortable with the presentation, then move onwards and upwards. She will be ok. Anyone want to share their first few weeks' reel? Anyone?
Well, I think the ultra nervous chick is ultra smokin'! Who cares if she can tell the difference between a summer's breeze and a bay breeze? When you're hammered on a Sunday night, would you rather see Vince ? Go Apirl!!
Scott also had some Radio time (at WARM and WEZX) to help smooth out some of the edges. From what I he is doing quite well in Rochester.

And you, sir or madam, are the future of local TV news viewers. We've seen the future, it is sad indeed.
C'mon. Cut the kid a break.
Not every meteorologist is born with the on-camera ease of an Al Roker. And not every Julie Banderas will have the ability to tell me if I'm gonna need to wear my rubbers...if ya know what I mean.

Oddly enough I don't drink that much coffee. I guess we are just amped up people. I am sure Scott appreciates the kind words, as do I.

I drink 3 cups a day...full throttle caffine. Thanks for having me on your site. I didn't realize anyone would remember me from WYOU. I do miss the people at the station but most of the ones I worked with are gone for sure.

Don't be surprised if Hetsko lands on his feet at WNEP. I hear that he and Dennis Fisher have a wonderful relationship.
What do you mean lands on his feet? He's the cheif at a station in Rochester, NY. Sounds like he is already on his feet to me. Sure its a smaller market (Buf and Syra right on each side) but I bet it pays better than WBS
just found the blog... both the Hetzko brothers are nuts....
and I mean that in the best possible way.
