Ch-ch-changes

WNEP is making two changes to its morning news show this week. The biggest change is a new co-anchor, Mindi Ramsey (formerly of WVIT-TV in Hartford, Connecticut), who formally replaces Kim Supon tomorrow morning. WNEP has already introduced her through various promos and segments, pairing her up with the seemingly zany Tom Williams and the certifiably zany Joe Snedeker, who I hope won't make the mistake of asking her to choose between her job and her children.

The other change is the addition of a news ticker to the bottom of the screen, similar to what you see on WBRE and WYOU's "Pennsylvania Morning." The bored housewives and chatterboxes on Talkback 16 are already in an uproar over this.

Welcome, Mindi. Good luck dealing with Snedeker.

Can anyone report how things have changed for employees, if at all, in the post New York Times days?

What difference does any of it make? It's long been "The Joe Snedeker Show," with Joe's special guests reading a little news.

Word has it Ramsey was not the original hire that Dennis Fisher had in mind when he was at NEP. In fact wasn't someone practically hired? Just wondering.

The introduction of a newsticker on 16 just cracks me up. Only because Ch. 50's stations have been doing it for what seems like ages. So much for being the innovative leader, DubyaNEP!

The people in northeast PA can't handle any kind of change. People complain about the new feature...and these are the same asshats who will complain if they get rid of the ticker. People in Northeast PA aren't happy and/or satisfied with anything. I'm surprised WNEP didn't add a ticker alot sooner.

Rightly so. People aren't glued to 16 in the morning because the parts without Snedeker are so dramatically different and better than the Nexstar product. Snedeker deserves credit for the numbers in the morning and deserves whatever he's paid and a raise next contract. Without Snedeker it's routine.

I've heard the same. Wnep has a near hire, to the opening off the website for a month or so, and posted it back online.

Mindi, welcome to WNEP. Oh, and Howard, have you checked out WNEP's new SoapBox. Good stuff.

BREAKING NEWS:If anyone has seen May's ratings it doesn't matter what Ch. 50 is doing. Nobody is watching...as usual.

If you have the May '07 book info, why don't you share it with us?

The ticker has been in the works for a long time. Apparently one of the reasons was because Joe's antics get in the way of the news and weather that it's a good way to make sure people actually know what's going on.

I don't like her. She seems awkard, especially during tosses.

Oh, Mindi, you're so wonderful, so classy, so pretty, so intelligent, you're sort of like the Mother Teresa of local news, except with a better figure and better hair, is there any way I can meet you, date you, get you to have my baby before you run for President of the U.S. and save the world from the threat of terrorism and solve the global warming problem and...

Sorry, Forgive me. Just went into sugar shock after reading the 'Talkback" web posts.

I'm feeling better now.

Worst book ever for both stations. Hard to believe they could lose any more viewers, but they did. Question is, how long will they hold on to anything, anyone? Stuccio is out...

Don't forget Nexstar introduced its ticker TO MAKE MONEY! Notice that various segments have various sponsors. Tonight's first news block ticker at 6:00 on 28 was brought to you by KFC. Guess who licks whose fingers at WBRE?"

About the sponsorships...they probably did not make that much money- if they made money at all...KFC and other regional clients are demanding "added value" for a station to get a buy...BRE may have been forced to give them the ticker to get the buy.
